Frequently Asked Questions
-
Rest assured — the person who sells you your music package is there on site on your wedding day to deliver the service.
Curtis is co-owner and music director of Mango Season Weddings. You’ll be talking to him throughout the process of buying your package and planning for the wedding day.
Curtis is also our lead singer & guitarist. He’ll be there on the wedding day, from the first notes played at pre-ceremony to the last send-off song of the night. Curtis will be the one making sure what you planned is exactly what happens.
Annie is the other co-owner of Mango Season Weddings as well as our lead vocalist & percussionist. Depending on the wedding package you buy, she can often join the band during the wedding day and/or dance party.
We also work with a company of O’ahu’s finest musicians to round out the players for the evening. Feels free to visit mangoseasonmusic.com to get to know some of our band.

The core of our band is Curtis Kamiya on vocals & guitar, and Annie Kamiya on vocals & percussion. However, we hire the appropriate number of musicians for the phase of the wedding and the style of music desired. We also often add musicians throughout the evening. For example, we'll start with a soloist for the ceremony, a duo for cocktail, a trio for dinner, and a six piece for dancing.
For our core duo, we might add on a bassist to that configuration for a bigger and more energetic sound. For a dance party, we'll often further add on a drummer, keyboardist, and saxophonist.
At our largest configuration, we have 10-12 players on stage — a 5 piece rhythm section of drums, guitar, bass, percussion, and keyboards; a horn section with alto sax, tenor sax, and trumpet; and additional lead or background singers.

Yes, absolutely! And we’re happy to customize a quote for you. It’s often best if we meet first for a consult so we can understand your music needs and then make our best recommendation.
We can provide an ensemble as small as a solo musician or as large as a 12 piece band.
Go ahead and schedule a consult with Curtis today and we’ll put something together just for you.

We recommend having music (live or recorded) playing throughout your entire event. Music helps to set the mood, it provides a sense of occasion, and lets your guests know something vibrant & important is happening .
For either weddings or events, we recommend starting music about 15 minutes before your guests arrive, which helps lead your guests into either the ceremony location (for weddings) or your first activity (for events). Music should also accompany your guests from cocktail hour through dinner, and then into your after-dinner/dancing/final activity time.
Our packages provide a total solution for your needs throughout the night with either a full night of live music or a mix of live and DJ/pre-recorded music.

The short answer is YES!
We’re committed to making your wedding day uniquely yours. We love it when family or friends (or the bride and groom for that matter) want to participate musically. We can put on a karaoke track and provide a mic. We can accompany you on acoustic guitar. We can even have the full band learn a song for you.
We’ve included all types of special, hand-crafted moments to make events memorable, and it is actually one of our specialities that sets us apart from other bands. A few notable moments we’ve created for our clients — A live, New Orleans-style second line parade to take guests to the after party; Arranged and performed a song written by the bride’s father for the Father/Daughter dance; Surprise Groom appearance on the drums to jam out with our band during the dance party, and many more!
If you’ve got a request, go ahead and ask. :)

Audio Package
We provide up to three different sound reinforcement systems for different phases of your wedding day. We often provide a PA system for your ceremony (including a wireless mic for your officiant), a different PA system for your cocktail area, and then third system for your reception.
Our reception system will be equipped with a wireless mic for your MC, and a second wireless mic for your speeches. We will also bring an appropriate amount of speakers and sub-woofers for a crowd of up to 150 people. More specific specs are below.
Our main reception audio system revolves around a QSC Touchmix 16 digital mixer. We use QSC K12s for our main speakers. We use QSC K10s and K8s for monitors, and a QSC KS212C for our sub-woofer.
We use a combination of an Allen & Heath ZED10FX mixer and QSC speakers for our ceremony and cocktail setup. We use Sennheiser wireless mics.
Lighting Package
For packages including a dance party or DJ music, we bring a full compliment of customizable uplighting for behind the band/DJ. We also bring multicolor dance floor lighting.

YES! We work with many couples that book us for both planning & entertainment services. Our advice is to discuss the planning portion of your wedding day first and then move into how entertainment will match all your planning desires. At our planning consultation, we’ll discuss both services and then provide you with a customized proposal/quote.

YES! Here are a few options we can provide:
Hula dancers for a 15 minute, after-dinner hula show.
Deluxe dance floor and stage lighting.
Cold sparklers to make your special moments absolutely pop.
Depending on the live package you purchase, we’ll learn two or four new songs just for you. If that’s not enough new music, let us know and we can always learn more music for an additional fee.
If you’d like something not listed here, feel free to ask. We’re always happy to brainstorm and consider different ideas to highly customize your day. And, if we truly cannot provide it, we’re happy to point you to the right vendor. :)
